Looking for more ways you could represent Libby & OverDrive on your website?
Libby (on your homepage)
One of the best ways to drive traffic to your digital collection is to give it prominence on your library homepage. Introduce users to Libby through a rotating banner ad or by adding one of our “Borrow ebooks & audiobooks” graphics near the top of the page, like in this example:

Tip: Link the graphic to https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/ so patrons can download the Libby app and add your library. Some libraries may prefer to link to an “eMedia” landing page to provide more information about Libby and other library apps.

Libby (brief introduction)
If your eMedia page has a list of vendors to choose from, you may want to share a brief introduction to Libby and provide quick links to download the app and get help. It may look something like this:

Libby (detailed introduction with FAQs)
If your library prefers to share detailed instructions and FAQs to introduce patrons to your services, you could try a layout like this, where “Learn more” links to a blog post with more information or points users to https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/.

You may optionally want to include information here about library card requirements (is a PIN needed? If so, how can they set it?), how to contact you if they need help with their library card or PIN, how many books can be checked out at a time, or your lending period options for digital titles. Some libraries also like to add that all items are automatically returned at the end of the lending period.
If you are reading on an older device or a Fire tablet, want to view our selection of streaming videos, or require the use of a screen reader, you can enjoy our digital collection using the classic OverDrive app. If using a computer, you may also choose to discover titles using our library catalog (add a link to your OPAC) or our digital collection website (add a link to your OverDrive site: https://***.overdrive.com).

Tips:
- • Provide an easy way to download the Libby app as the primary path for new users. Make sure to hyperlink the Libby logo or promotional graphics on your website to: overdrive.com/apps/libby.
- • Add a QR code for users with smart devices to scan and easily download the Libby app from your library website, emails, newsletters, hand-outs, or posters.
- • Review your library’s website and OPAC annually to make sure that the description, resources, screenshots, and logos shared about your OverDrive service and titles are updated and accurate.
- • If you work with multiple digital services vendors, a long list of providers to choose from can be confusing for first-time visitors; sorting your digital services by popularity at your library and promoting key features instead of listing alphabetically can improve discovery and make it less of a guessing game for patrons.
- • Because of improvements to the borrowing process, instructions for side-loading, Adobe Digital Editions, and burning audiobooks to CD should not be required for most first-time users.
- • If you have a “device cheat sheet” or any kind of instructional documents about OverDrive posted to your website from previous years, we recommend updating the links to the Libby FAQs or OverDrive Help, as those articles are refreshed regularly and checked for accuracy.
- • Libby users can get Help & Support directly from the app. If patrons have questions about their PINs, passwords, or library card numbers, it is also helpful to make sure they have an easy way to contact you to solve those issues.
